Ted Heath allegations
So, our former Prime Minister is alleged to have molested boys and the police failed to investigate.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is this not MASSIVE news?

Puts Watergate in the shade if found to be true.

Paper as made up a pack of lies which have now been proved incorrect. The date the paper stated, where Heath was abroad all month on diplomatic duties. Long bloody way from the A2. The apartment they stated is not Heath's and someone else's. Heath's apartment was in another square in London. The woman as denied all allocations. They are now trying to link him with Saville by standing next to someone Savill knew. Savill knew most people.
I am not a Heath fan, but papers getaway with murder these day's.

Where have I suggested in any way that I am biased. Can you back that up in any way? I'm standing by the principle of 'innocent until proven guilty'. If anyone is betraying a political bias it's you, who appears to want to tear up the rulebook because you don't like the cut of Heath's jib.

By the way, any comment to make on the Independent's article about the CPS withdrawing it's allegations against Leon Brittan? I seem to remember you were similarly outraged about him (in an entirely non-partisan way, of course).

It is important regardless of timescale because I think we need to be assured that such cover-ups are unacceptable and will no longer be tolerated. Nobody should be above the law,

You appear to be want to hear no evil as far as the blue party are concerned. For myself, I have no political allegiance to blind me,

Re: Ted Heath allegations
The police who nicked Cyril Smith and had him banged for righs on film at a child fucking party, said that before they could get anywhere with it, some top brass with all the buttons, who'd they'd never seen before, comes in and takes over the whole case with all the evidence. Nothing happens until recently, after Smith is dead, unfortnately.

I believe it was something like that.

So who is this top brass policeman, and who does he represent? How big is this obvious ring? When it involves people in such high powered and trusted(ha!) positions, it can't keep getting swept under the carpet like that.

It doesn't mean the whole system is corrupt, but there is clearly something rotten up on high, when someone can come and get the likes of Smith off the hook.

Or the policemen who nicked him are lying and are trying to sell books.

I agree with Coffee.

Someone alert the media.

Re: Ted Heath allegations
While an investigation may bring some relief to any victims, so much time has now passed that they're likely to have resolved whatever may have happened in their own way. And if they haven't, professional help would presumably be the only way to do so now. But I feel that an investigation only serves to further massage the contemporary appetite for sensationalism. Are the police also investigating allegations of child abuse against all unknown Joe Bloggs out there? I doubt it.

I'm not sure how the exposure of a 54 year old cover up would be in any way reassuring. Maybe a 54 month old cover up.

Surface

As my response to Coffee. It is any potential cover-up rather than Heath which I believe is important and should be a concern to us all.

Re: Ted Heath allegations
For me, it would to expose any cover-up and try to stop circumstances where people felt they were above the law or events like this were brushed aside because of apparent national security issues. It is not about Heath as such.

Victims (if any) might see it differently.

There have been precisely two allegations. Both were investigated and found baseless at the time and one has since (yesterday) been categorically denied ever being made.

How much money should be spent advertising on spec for further victims who have not spoken in the 15 years since Heath's death or the previous 25 years?

Monk, what will such an investigation achieve?

I don't see what conspiracy theorists have to do with wanting to see allegations investigated in the proper manner no matter who you are.

Re: Ted Heath allegations
The pity about all of this for Heath is that there is nobody around ( he left no children or wives ) bothered enough to pursue and refute these allegations.

it's manna from heaven for conspiracy theorists though. And he did once live in Dolphin square.

Re: Ted Heath allegations
Not at all.

The biggest issue with all this for me (as opposed to the actual victims (if any)) is the probability that there has been a long running cover-up for these senior figures - as is suggested to me by various files going missing.

There are allegations and they need to be investigated. Hopefully they are being. I have no more idea of his guilt than anyone else who is convinced of his innocence as a matter of principle.

The way I see it is this. If you're in the police or secret services and you want some sway over the politicians who you think are just getting in the way having some really bad shit on them does you no harm. However, even if you don't have shit on them, making them think you DO have shit on them will get them to toe the line a bit.
The politicians want Pakistani paedos caught not politicians and friends of politicians.

Re: Ted Heath allegations
It's ironic, really, that the issue here is evidence allegedly going missing. Normally with the police, it's the other way round. It's good to see they are moving with the times and actually advertising for allegations now.
